10 Characters The DCEU Needs

Hi! Before I start, the reason why I've done this post is mostly because Squirrel Girl officially became a non-mutant thus potentially setting her up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which led me to think of a few Marvel characters I'd like to see in the MCU, see here for a better explanation. I then went on to think about which DC characters would rock the DCEU. Guaranteed, it's barely started, which leaves a whole lot of space for a whole lot of cool characters. For reference, Man of Steel kicked off the DCEU (although unintentionally), with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (featuring, of course Batman and Superman, as well as Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman, Flash, and Lois Lane), followed by (my most anticipated movie of 2016) Suicide Squad (with Harley Quinn, The Joker, Deadshot, Katana, Captain Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, El Diablo, Killer Croc, Amanda Waller and Slipknot, just to name a few). That's a huge roster, considering we'd only be three movies into the DCEU by the time SS comes out. That perhaps poses the question of... is there room for other characters? Well, of course there is. It's a shared universe, not every character in the first three films have to be around forever (hint hint Marvel Iron Man). I do indeed think that, of course the Justice League (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern and more) will be the mainstays, as well as Harley Quinn, Joker, Enchantress and Deadshot being just a few of the central villains. However, I'm totally fine with these listed below even being cameos or one-movie characters.

Raven

Unlike Marvel, DC has decided to go into the cosmic/magic realm instantly, with Cara Delevingne's Enchantress being the prime example in the upcoming Squad movie. Personally, I'd absolutely love it if DC decided to expand on the magical realm and introduced Raven, the daughter of the powerful demon Trigon. While unsure how Raven would fit into the DCEU at the moment, with there being practically no DCEU movies (does Man of Steel even count?), I could perhaps see her as a supporting character in the Justice League movies, alongside the teen titans. Which leads me to...

Nightwing

aka Robin's (a founding member of the Teen Titans) future self. If we can get our heads past that awful (sorry) theory of Jason Todd being the Joker (although it might happen), I could totally see Nightwing accompany Batman in the solo Bat movies throughout the DCEU timeline, and if rumours of Jena Malone playing Carrie Kelley (Robin) or Batgirl/Oracle in BVS:DOJ are to be believed, then heck, Nightwing would be the perfect addition. With Jason Todd's suit burnt to a crisp (as seen in the BVS trailer), could he have survived to become Nightwing? I don't know, but seeing Nightwing in live-action would be awesome. Perhaps we could even see Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) fight Nightwing, similar to Harley Quinn's side story in Arkham Knight?

Starfire

First Raven, then Nightwing (Robin), now Starfire. Cyborg is getting his own damn movie. All the love for Teen Titans (sorry Beast Boy). Starfire is an alien super-hero that can fly and has the powers of energy projection. Additionally, she's a princess from Tamaran, escaping execution at the hands of her sister. Starfire's presence in the DCEU would be noticeable, perhaps even more than some characters already set to appear in the DCEU (Slipknot and El Diablo anyone?). What I'm mostly hinting at here is that I'd love for there to be an appearance by the Teen Titans somewhere along the line, perhaps as backup support for the Justice League in JL: Part 2.

Animal Man

He's cooler than he sounds I swear. If Marvel can successfully pull of a giant green thing and Ant-Man, a man who shrinks and talks to ants, then surely DC can manage a man who can use the abilities of any animal. That's actually quite a useful power. While Animal Man truly has no place in the current DCEU lineup, perhaps later on after JL:P2 we'll get to a place where we need some fresh characters, why not take a risk like Marvel did and introduce Animal Man. They've managed to make Aquaman look badass as hell, they could surely make Animal Man look badass, especially with the lack of saturation (seriously, they have hardly ANY colour in the movies). I'd be game for Animal Man further down the line, probably not headlining his own movie, but as a supporting character circa Falcon w/ Captain America for Marvel.

The Question

If the DCEU is really going to be as dark as one expects (both colour-wise and story-wise), then why not introduce The Question into the Batman story. With the direction it seems they might be going, with Jason Todd in a post-Robin 'limbo', potential Carrie Kelley OR Batgirl, as well as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and The Joker being around, who better than The Question to come and sort stuff out.

Flamebird

If I'm going to suggest Nightwing, then I'm going to have to suggest Flamebird, right? Flamebird is Nightwing's sidekick, Batwoman's niece, she even took on the mantle of Bat-Girl for a period of time. She's an occasional member of Teen Titans (seriously, I have a problem, they're just so cool). Flamebird, otherwise known as Bette Kane, is also a really good tennis player. While I'm not entirely show how this fits in with the DCEU I'm not entirely sure, I just feel that if Nightwing were to pop up in the Batman movies, Flamebird should very well accompany him. Besides, we kind of need a fresh take on Batman with some different characters.

Hawkgirl and Hawkman

Please, please, please, can these be the Black Widow and Hawkeye's of the DC Extended Universe. Essentially, not getting their own movies but still being the best characters (although that'll be difficult with Harley Quinn, The Flash and Batman around). I'm actually desperate to see these two in the Justice League movies, I mean, seriously, who says that the team-up movies have to consist of the core 7. At least bring in Hawkgirl and Hawkman for Justice League Part Two. Please? They're so cool. I loved Hawkgirl's story in Injustice: Gods Among Us (slight leeway to talk about how good Harley Quinn's ending is in the game, woah), Hawkman's pretty damn cool too.

Poison Ivy

Now that Harley's a definite in the DCEU (Margot Robbie is my hero, just throwing it out there), who better to bring into the mix than Pamela Isley herself (or Ivy Pepper for all you Gotham fans). If done right, Poison Ivy could be immensely threatening and outright terrifying in the DCEU, the CGI would be immense. Ivy doesn't necessarily have to appear in a Batfleck movie, if Suicide Squad is a huge hit then she'll more than likely appear in the sequel. I truly stand by Poison Ivy appearing in the DCEU, but only if they do it right, which means no Uma Thurman (sorry :( ) I recently saw a tweet saying how, if they grew Ivy's powers and made her insanely powerful, she'd be a worthy antagonist for the Justice League, however that may indeed be unlikely in the DCEU. Fingers crossed she finally gets the cinematic portrayal she deserves in the DCEU.

Cheetah

So, when Lego Batman 3 came out, I didn't know that Cheetah would be on the main characters. After playing as her, albeit in Lego form, I realised that, actually, she's a solid character, and a fantastic Wonder Woman nemesis. Now, while I couldn't imagine Cheetah being the primary antagonist of the Wonder Woman movie (although she is rumoured to be one of the five antagonists to star in the movie), I could, however diminishing it is to her character, see her as a secondary antagonist, below none other than Circe and Ares (which I believe would be much more fitting for the DCEU). Nevertheless, if these rumours are true it would be fantastic to finally see Cheetah brought to life in a Wonder Woman movie.

The Riddler

Other than being my Halloween costume for this year, the Riddler is a truly iconic Batman villain, although perhaps slightly put to the side when Joker, Harley, Penguin and Bane are around. However, I feel that we haven't had a solid (live-action) film representation of the character for a while (does Jim Carrey really count?). Now, take into consideration a Batman movie, along with Nightwing, Bat-Girl, Batwoman and co, with The Riddler. That could really work well, especially with the dark theme the DCEU has got going on (yes, colour as well). On second thought, a Batman movie with a well-done Riddler AND Poison Ivy together would be ridiculously amazing; a dark, mysterious thriller with amazing CGI and some brain-hurting riddles. This could work just as well as Poison Ivy or Nightwing in the DCEU, and admittedly I do think that all three will for definite appear in one of the DCEU movies, perhaps not even a Batman movie (as similar to Poison Ivy).

That's all for now. Be sure to check back tomorrow for a Loot Crate giveaway, as well as my monthly soundtrack on December 1st, with a few posts in between. I'll also be posting 'Farewell, Clara Oswald' so be sure to come back for that!

Bye for now!

10 Terrifying Comic Book Villains

Hello! There's something rather terrifying about a slightly creepy looking, incredibly evil supervillain in the Marvel and DC comics/movies/tv shows. With this being my final Halloween-themed post of the month, I thought I'd make it just a tiny bit thrilling by listing 10 very creepy villains.

10. Sultur

So, Sultur is a demon in Marvel comics. Yup. An actual demon. Sultur is based on the Norse fire giant Sultr, and is a pretty consistent enemy of Thor's. It's claimed that Sultur sits at the end of the world, waiting for the end of time to come so he can slay everyone and everything. How rude. The very sight of Sultur is absolutely intimidating, imagine facing that in real life. Oh my gosh.

 9. Lady Styx (DC)

Lady Styx makes me oh so very uncomfortable, her demeanour and very, very alien-like figure with all her extra limbs and long pointy head gives me pure chills. She's worshipped as a god in DC Comics, and sends her legions to annihilate planets and turn the populations into her very own undead slaves. Quite cruel in my honest opinion.

8. Morbius, the Living Vampire

Oh hell no nasty vampire villain in Marvel. The sheer sight of him, see above, makes me feel uneasy. In recent storylines, he's become a fairly questionable hero. Morbius started out as a Spider-Man villain, went on to become a tragic protagonist with his very own series as a flying, super-strengthened vampire with a nobel prize. Yes, a nobel prize.

7. Mary, Queen of Blood

Mary Seward is the leader of the Blood Red Moon, a terrorist vampire (note a trend here) organization in DC continuity, and served as handmaid to Queen Elizabeth (Elizabeth Tudor, yes the legit one). Now she's waging a war against humans, see above for terrifying quote; "they are nothing but food" oh hell no.

6. Black Mask

I remember playing Arkham City and feeling very uncomfortable whenever Black Mask popped up because, well, his mask is just a tad bit creepy. To tell the truth, I actually think I've had a nightmare about this guy. Black Mask is the slightly less well known crime lord of Gotham city, having known Bruce Wayne (Batman) since they were both children, yet is possibly one of the creepier Batman villains (the other two are coming up in a bit, don't fret).

5. Bloody Mary

What I admire about DC especially is their ability to create absolutely terrifying villains, and this is yet another one. Whilst I was editing this photo, I got distracted and when I looked back at the screen, I actually screamed. But then, I guess some of my friends will know how easily scared I am. Mary. Worth. Is. Terrifying.

4. Duela Dent

Oh yes, another DC villain. I remember coming across Duela Dent when she went about as 'The Joker's Daughter', then pretty much all the other Batman villains before it was confirmed she was indeed Harvey Dent's daughter. The sheer sight of her gives me chills, however Duela went on to become an absolutely terrifying hero in Teen Titans before joining the Suicide Squad much to Harley Quinn's disdain. Then she went cray cray again and started mixing with more villains. She became obsessed with The Joker, and after his apparent death, Duela simply started to murder people to get his attention. Damn.

3. Carnage

Cletus Kasady, Marvel's psychopath and homicidal sadist. He killed his grandmother, tried to kill his mother by throwing a television into her bathtub, and tortured and killed his mother's dog. Then his mother tried to kill him, only to be killed herself by Kasady's father. Then Cletus was sent to an orphanage and killed a few people and burnt the place down. Then, he became a serial killer and was sent to prison, only to become Carnage, the most terrifying Marvel villain. Imagine coming across this in real life, I'd cry and need a change of clothes within 3 seconds.

2. Scarecrow

I'm absolutely terrified of Scarecrow, oh my goodness. I remember playing Arkham Asylum, and wandering through the morgue when suddenly Scarecrow jumps out. I had to have an hour break and a hot drink. Then, as I returned to the game, I was thrilled (not) to find out I'd have to play through a Scarecrow level. Following this, I found out the entire SERIES WOULD BE BASED ON SCARECROW (and Joker, kind of) and I ABSOLUTELY LOST IT. Scarecrow plays on your biggest fears, using chemicals to induce a state of hallucination where your biggest fears play out. Imagine mine, a bunch of dogs and clowns surrounding me. What would be yours? Actually, it's a bit room 101, isn't it?

1. The Joker

The Joker, despite my hatred for clowns, is actually one of my favourite, not only in comics, characters of all time. Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, and the rest, have all played fantastic Jokers, and Jared Leto seems like he could most definitely be playing a very iconic incarnation of The Joker. The Joker terrifies me, and so many others, perhaps being slightly responsible for some children hating clowns (my fear of clowns actually only just kicked in in recent years, which is strange). I think the reason why The Joker ranked at the top spot is because his character shows the funny side of being evil, and that's truly a terrifying thought. To think that somebody could be so broken, that killing people and causing mayhem and mass destruction is just a joke to them. If that's not scary, I don't know what is.

That's all for now.
Be sure to check back on the 1st November for my October soundtrack, a monthly feature I do listing 10 songs I'd been listening to in that month. I'll also have a new theme for the first week or two of November, in honour of Guy Fawkes night. Be sure to come back to check it all out!

MARVEL & DC TEAM-UPS

Hello! Today I'm writing about Marvel and DC, more specifically Marvel and DC characters teaming up together and FIGHTING THE BAD GUYS WOOOAHHH.

I previously did a blog post about Marvel VS DC, pitting two characters, one of each, against each other to see who'd win. Check that out here. MARVEL VS DC CROSSOVER

Anyway, let's get started. (Warning: I really wasn't that great at coming up with team names)

1. Spider-man, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Superman and Wolverine as... THE FRONTRUNNERS

Basically, as the appalling team name may suggest... These six heroes are a few of the core heroes of Marvel and DC. Just imagine the hard-core battling done between these guys and perhaps a villain team consisting of Doctor Doom, Dr Octopus, Magneto, Harley Quinn, The Joker and Lex Luthor.

2. Ant Man, The Wasp, Atom and Shrinking Violet as... THE LITTLE ONES (I told you I was bad at thinking of team names)

So little, so tiny, where the heck are they? I kid of course. I'm hilarious I know, please... stop applauding. Imagine a superhero team consisting of, well, four tiny people. It would actually work quite well.

3. Black Panther, Iron Man, Green Arrow and Batman as... THE M TEAM (No seriously stop laughing at these team names)

Imagine all the cool gadgets and super cool technology, just a few rich guys beating up some bad guys. All the equal opportunities.

4.  Kid Flash, H.E.R.B.I.E, Robin (Carrie Kelley)  and Lockheed as... THE SIDEKICKS (Again, don't judge)

This is something I'd like to see, the sidekicks come up and be the main heroes (despite the team name, oh my). Carrie Kelley is actually super cool, and with her rumoured appearance in Batman V Superman (although I truly doubt it's truth), I'd see her as the frontrunner of the team. The others, they're super awesomely cool as well.

5. Scarlet Witch, Zatanna, Magik and Raven as... THE MAGICEISHAS (I'm rather proud of this team name actually)

This would be one badass all-female magical superhero team, THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. NEEDS TO. Scarlet Witch is cray cray as the kids say, Zatanna is equally as cray, Magik is just cool and Raven is epic. ALL DA MAGIC.

6. Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Miss America (America Chavez), Supergirl, Wiccan, Miss Martian and Robin (Tim Drake) as... THE YOUTHFUL SIX

I'm a huge fan of America Chavez and Kamala Khan, so I could perhaps see them as the leaders of this group. However, Supergirl and Robin are huge presences in not only the DC universe, but also in the general superhero universe. Ask anybody, and they'll know who Supergirl and Robin are. So they would perhaps be the frontrunners as well. This team would be fantastic because it's a bunch of young people proving themselves and truly making a difference and saving the world. Yolo, as the kids say.

That's all for now.

See you next time for My July Soundtrack featuring Jack Garrett, Galantis, Sigma and Florence + The Machine.

MARVEL VS DC CROSSOVER

Hello! So for today's post, I'm venturing into the fun yet often controversial world of Marvel VS DC. I'll be putting one Marvel character and one DC character together for my ideal crossover. These are things I'd like to see happen in comic books, TV series or films, even though perhaps they're all 99% unlikely. Sigh.

1. Harley Quinn VS Black Widow
Just imagine Scarlett Johansson dealing with Harley's mischievously evil acts. She's so done. She can't even right now. Perhaps a fight worth seeing. Also, how cool would it be to see Margot Robbie's Harley face up to Johansson's badass Natasha. I actually cannot decide who would have the utmost dominance in this fight, however I must admit the winner would most likely be Black Widow.

2. Jubilee VS Robin
The battle of the… cute? I kid, Jubilee is badass and Robin is rather epic in fine detail (Nightwing tho, but I couldn't put Jubilee against Nightwing, heck no). While Robin is pretty darn cool, even for a brightly coloured sidekick, Jubilee would storm this battle. You go Jubilee. Do yo' thang.

3. Ms. Marvel VS Wonder Woman
The battle of the powerhouses, am I right or am I right? While it's pretty darn obvious Wonder Woman would annihilate, Ms. Marvel would put up a good fight. I could perhaps see them both conflicting, and working together.

4. Squirrel Girl (no seriously) VS Aquaman (I'm being serious)
While Aquaman is talking to some fish and being a general underrated epic hero, Squirrel Girl is talking to squirrels whilst defeating Thanos, Deadpool and Wolverine. Squirrel Girl would destroy Aquaman, slay Squirrel Girl slay. Also, they're both pretty epic, and totally just cool heroes despite what readers and those occasional nasty comic book fans might say.

5. Storm VS Poison Ivy
A slightly weird one, on the basis that they're so different that it perhaps sheds light on a relatively frustrating struggle for both Storm and Poison Ivy. While I would say Storm would win this fight, Poison Ivy would put up a good fight and really challenge the X-Men front runner. Imagine all the plants and lightning, oh the cinematography is begging for it.

6. The Flash VS Quicksilver (MCU) VS Quicksilver (Fox)
A three way fight, I would perhaps assume Quicksilver of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be the first to go, quickly followed by Quicksilver of Fox's X-Men franchise, leaving The Flash victorious, being a generally better superhero of the two. All that speed tho. It's too much.

Anyway, that's all for now. I'll be posting a follow up to this post in a month or so with my ideal Marvel & DC team-ups. Next week expect a post about YouTube, weighing up the pros and cons, so be sure to check in for that post. It's a tad interesting.

Bye for now.

ACTRESSES I WANT TO SEE PLAY SUPER-HEROINES

With a huge amount of female superheroes in Marvel/DC comics, I'm going to be exploring actresses who have the acting ability and suitability to play a super-heroine. Considering this, we should probably remember the lack of female heroes represented in superhero films, even with characters such as Black Widow, Gamora, Storm, Kitty Pride and soon-to-be Scarlet Witch, Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel... so who do I think could play characters such as She-Hulk, Spider Woman, Captain Marvel and Mantis. Likewise with my 'actors I want to see play superheroes', I won't go into specific characters, but focus on who I'd simply like to see play a super-heroine.

1. Charlize Theron

2. Amanda Seyfried

3. Jenna Coleman

4. Kat Dennings

5. Mila Kunis

6. Lupita Nyong'o

7. Rachel Weisz

7. Zooey Deschanel

8. Natalie Dormer

9. Anna Camp

10. Anna Kendrick

Honorary Mentions
Sarah Hyland
Billie Piper
Georgina Leonidas
Hannah Simone
Kaley Cuoco

That's all.

Bye for now.
