The Locations of The Rising of The Elements

Take a look at the world of The Rising of The Elements.

Hey pals! So, I thought I'd give you a bit of a peek into the TROTE world. If you don't know, I've released a book; The Rising of The Elements. It's out now, so go check it out!

Anyway, I'm going to be talking about the locations of The Rising of The Elements, to be specific I'll include maps, mood boards and some general info about the places. These places are; the Cave of Canorum, Elemental Centre, Reformation Building, Isaac's Uprising House, the Training Centre, and general info on the UK, the South-Eastern Quarter (Uprising Quarter) etc.

Map of the United Kingdom

Note that the Quarter's are a lot bigger than perhaps suggested in the books. I mention in the book that nuclear weaponry causes the genetic mutation which creates the elements, most of the land is wasteland/abandoned (which isn't an explanation for Wales and N.Ireland but that's a potential spoiler for the future). Also, note that some islands have gone such as the Isle of Wight etc, this is because the book is set in the 2050s, and with the nuclear war that occurred 100 years before I decided that most of the minute islands wouldn't have survived.

The Uprising Quarter (South-Eastern Quarter)

As mentioned earlier, the nuclear weaponry used in the 1950s (fictional, of course) led to some areas of the Quarters becoming wastelands, or people abandoning these areas (population decreased majorly by the war,  of course, this is a point that I'll touch on in the future).

The Uprising Quarter maintains British iconography while being futuristically developed and heavily based on community (as one would presume, considering its purpose). There aren't many roads in the Uprising Quarter, excluding the roads that connect the rows of houses to various areas. It's an open-area 'haven'.

The Uprising House (Isaac/Warren/Darcy/Jenna/Robbie)

Ah, the Uprising House. Isaac moves into the house after arriving in the Uprising Quarter, living with Darcy Cassano, Warren Potes, Jenna Sutherland (who moves out to live with her mother) and Robbie Hart (who moves into Jenna's room). The general layout is spacious and the interior design is youthful, retro and 'hipster'. The Uprising House is next to Sophia, Alice, Lindy and Marek's house, and also next to the ever-arguing Byrnes who we don't actually see in the book. Situated directly behind this house on the road behind is Ange and Claude's house, and Aurelia and Delaney's house is adjacent to the street next to this one.

Suburban, youthful and slightly more colourful than the above mood board might suggest. I feel like a real estate agent. Typically British-esque, with a modern (and contradictively retro) feel.

Elemental Centre and the Reformation Building

Both the Elemental Centre and the Reformation Building have the same interior layout but used for different purposes, with different external appearances, as well as the Elemental Centre, being considerably smaller than the Reformation Building. Most Uprising 'workers', such as Ange Bellator and Aurelia Swan, as well as Phoebe, Jay and Clark, have offices in both buildings.

This is the Elemental Centre, it's primarily used for 'operations and conduct' and holds the Uprising Station, accessed by a secret door on the bottom floor that leads to an underground tunnel.

This, on the other hand, is the Reformation Building, used for planning, deformulation, meetings, experiments, and general events. It also holds the training centre, positioned underground, as well as holding the extraction room where the elements can be deformulated (disabled) for a certain period of time.

The Training Centre

The Training Centre is where... you guessed it... all the training takes place. As you walk into the centre, you're greeted by four glass rooms within the centre that host each element. Towards the back of the centre are the lockers and the canteen. To the side is a well-disguised door that opens up to a room containing the Uprising uniforms, which, depending on who's wearing it, are lined with the colour of their element.

The Cave of Canorum

The Cave of Canorum, one of my favourite locations from the book, yet also one of the most mysterious. I don't really explain much about the cave in the book because it's all relative to future plot points in the series. There's definitely more coming! The cave begins as a small area, visually nice yet also underwhelming. A small opening towards the back of the cave leads to the actual Cave of Canorum, a beautiful and stunning cave lined with rows of columns and three doors at the back which lead to a narrow, claustrophobic alleyway where, in the book, Clark, Isaac, Darcy and Jenna are split up. At the end of the alleyway, the four split pathways each bring you to a glass room that takes you into the labyrinth. Quick notice - if you click on the map you should be able to make it larger. Save the map and see if you can finish each maze (order - Darcy, Isaac, Clark, Jenna from top to bottom). After the labryinth is Scarlett's Bunker, which has a long, long, long ladder leading up to Maxine's house on top of the Cave of Canorum.

The Cave of Canorum was based on Fingal's Cave (seen in the top two pictures) in Scotland, and in fact, it was 'Fingal's Cave' in the book until I realised that all the mysticism and future plans would most certainly be defamation. The cave, as described is very beautiful, with water trickling below and light shining through cracks in the rock above. You can see the inspiration for the columns in the Fingal's Cave photos, with the mysticism in the bottom right photo and the openness and water seen in the bottom left.

That's all for now! I do have more of these, but I'm holding them off for a while (hopefully you'll see them sometime soon). Hope you liked this post, I have more TROTE posts coming soon including The History of The Rising of The Elements and The Society of The Rising of The Elements

Thanks for reading!

Bye!
