Marvel Sweets Recipe

Here's a quick and easy recipe for making some jelly/gummy sweets!

So, a while ago I came across a recipe for some 'gummy candy' linked here, and I decided to adapt it and use it with my Marvel Heroes ice tray I received from Loot Crate in May last year which can be bought here (UK) and here (USA). Obviously, you can use this on a variety of moulds, I'm just using mine with my Marvel moulds.

All you need is:-
160ml of water
3 packets of unflavoured gelatine (I used Dr. Oetker's 3 pack)*
2 packets of jelly powder (I used Hartley's Sugar Free Strawberry)
Silicone mould of your choice

*use 4 packets if you want a stronger consistency

Step 1 - Measure 150ml of cold water and stir while slowly adding gelatine...

You'll need to stir while slowly adding the gelatine to ensure it doesn't clump together. I moved the mixture from a measuring jug to a large bowl at this point for more space as the mixture becomes quite tough and crumbly at this point.

Step 2 - Slowly add the powdered jelly/jell-o while stirring...

After you finish stirring, leave the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes until it thickens and is sturdy.

Step 3 - Boil water in a pot for 5 minutes, then turn to a simmer...

Step 4 - Place the bowl over the simmering water and stir (minimally) until liquified...

It's important that you stir the mixture and don't beat it instead as air pockets will create foam which lies at the top of the mixture (this happened with me but you can easily skim it). The mixture should fully liquify after 5 minutes if stirred minimally.

Step 5 - Pour the mixture into the moulds...

If skimming hasn't removed all the foam that you may have made by beating the mixture in the previous step, you can use a teaspoon during this step to remove remaining foam. Be careful in this step as it can be 1) messy, and 2) hot.

Step 6 - Refrigerate!

Refrigerate the mould for 20-25 minutes, the mixture will be solid (and springy) when ready.

Step 7 - Remove from the moulds...

Stretch the mould into opposite directions so the edge of the sweets separates from the mould, and then push inside out so the sweets pop out. If they stick, give it a gentle tug (they're firm so shouldn't tear apart).

Step 8 - Enjoy!

That's it, a quick and easy recipe that takes less than an hour to make that's pretty tasty! Let me know if you try this out, I'd love to see your attempts and what moulds you use!

Thanks!
